So, I have a raised bed that Ive planted for the past few years. Have a 5 month old now and haven't had time to plant anything or clean it up much.

Went out there today and have:
1 carrot
2 mint plants
Ton of basil
Ton of jalapeño plants

Ive never planted mint.
Its been 2 years since I did carrots.

Just some observations. I'd love to plant a lemon tree.

I can't wait until I have enough property to plant a nice big garden.

I did squash one year, that's one of the nastiest plants ever. I love squash, but swore I'd never plant it again until I get a bigger place.

been doin it my whole life "im 32" lol.. grandpa always did a huge garden. After he passed i decided i would do one myself to carry on tradition. My garden is now right at a full acre. Its A TON of work. between trying to keep it watered "most years" keep the weeds and grass out, keep the bugs off, keep the deer and coons out... then if you make it that far harvest it, shuck and silk corn, shell peas and butter beans, cook them all down, can or bag it, and put it up. You spend countless days "and nights" in the garden.... but its worth it come winter and bust out some sweet corn and peas from the freezer

Just planted 2 lemon, 2 orange, and 2 satsuma 5 minutes from you (I think you said you were a Madisonvillian)

All the trees already have 60-75 fruit buds on them

Get rid of the mint, now. It will take over your entire bed.

Put the mint in a container......it will literally take over the entire garden for years if you plant it in the ground. I keep mine in half of an old whiskey barrel....has grown back the last 4 years.

Prepare to be buried in fruit!

I have 1 each of Satsuma, Navel Orange, Louisiana Sweet, Meyer Lemon and Persian Lime. I love it, but my friends and family love it more!

Doesn't take much, really.

I have five 6x3ft raised beds along the side of my house, not much space in reality.

This fulfills my family of five's needs as such:

-100% of salad
-75% of cooking greens
-90% of tomatoes
-50% of root veggies
-100% of herbs
-misc peppers, cucumbers, etc

Above for May-Oct. Winter is the dark days

That is what I'm looking forward to

Hopefully I can keep them alive for a couple years to get god and established

Try broccoli and kale in those winter months....both are hardy to the cold.
