Got some nuisance gar fish to get out of the neighborhood ponds. What the best way to catch em? They strike at lures, but I can't seem to keep em hooked. Can they be caught on a trot line or like you would fish gators? What's the best bait?

Was thinking about Jugs. Would have to tether them to the shore. What should I bait them with?

Bait them with other fish, either dead or alive.

Hmmnn.... So I get to catch fish in order to catch other fish.

In the words of Phil Robertson... "I'm liking the direction this is turning"

I've heard this before. Does the teeth get caught up in the rope? Or is rope like a lure on the hook?

Get your bow and set up a light. Invite buddies over and drink all night while shooting gar.

I think Wick has a light. He's got plenty of gar pics.

Frayed nylon rope, no hook. The teeth get stuck.

1. 12v battery
2. Exposed metal wires along the bottom of the boat, connect to said battery.
3. Take fish to bad part of town in cooler
