Found a new hobby in my back yard.

I posted a thread earlier about calling a hawk to my yard with a Bluetooth speaker. Well I sat outside this afternoon with the speaker and my tablet and tried a few more calls.
First I tried the red shouldered hawk call again and both of the hawks came and landed in my oak tree and were calling back. Got bored with them and tried the cardinal call. Within seconds, a pair of cardinals flew onto the chairs next to the speaker. They were so confused, they kept flying from the chairs to the ground searching for the intruder. I laughed my arse off.
Tried the blue Jay call and had one land on a branch above the table and look around for a bit, but didn't call at all.
Good fun, all you need is a Bluetooth speaker and this website. Click on the bird species and sounds.

Just getting in from work, and haven't read your other thread yet, but this sounds pretty cool. Sounds like a hobby that can be done with beer.

Am a birder. I have a friend who used to shoot squirrels, freeze them, and put them on a hawk platform in his yard. Hawks learned to come regularly.
Great link btw. Thanks

I call beer to my backyard all the time. One of the few perks of having a wife

Doing this at my dads today. He's gonna shite. We used to have two elms in the back yard. The birds just don't come around like they used to

Baw. Why not just get a stuffed squirrel?
Posted on 7/16/16 at 8:51 am to tigersownall
Because real squirrels are plentiful and Hawks love them

I can't wait to try this during duck season. I'll post results

The Hawks consumed the squirrels

Where is the cardinal on that website?

I'll try to get some video of the hawk coming to the call and post it.

I know what I'm doing now when I sit outside every evening with a few cold beers.
Would love to make a hawk platform on my yard. Maybe get rid of the few pesky squirrels while I'm at it.

I have seen a bald eagle in my neighborhood. This could be interesting.
