Fort Walton Beach Pier Fishing

Going on a small vacation in a few weeks. I've never fished from a pier in Florida but our condo is "walking distance" from one. Anyone here ever fished there and have any advice?

Yes, ask Jimmy Long. If I recall the place closest to you can be fairly good.

Fished there with my brother just a few days ago. You can rent a rod and bait (frozen shrimp or mullet) with a 24 hour pass for $17. We caught some Bluefish, Pompano, a few Grunts, Ladyfingers, and 1 Spanish. We fished off the east side at the end of the pier. At night we had most action throwing our baits in the lights. Just FYI there is no shark fishing off the pier. Good luck!
Edit: Bring extra hooks if you decide to rent. The rods are pre-rigged for dropshot but the hooks are ultra tiny J style. Like Bream or Pinfish size.

That pier is in a shallow area. Bluefish, spanish, occasional kings, reds and some pompano are pretty normal. Worth the drive to navarre pier if you get the chance. Much better chance for kings, tarpon, and on any given day in the summer mahi can run through.

Went in early May. Caught nothing but Spanish Macks and Bluefish. Fished with pink banana jigs. Spotted some large cobia circling bait fish. Guy also caught a swordfish while we were there.

Just got back from PCB. Talked to some guy at the place where we stayed. He said he caught over 50 "sea perch". Said they were good action for him and his son to bend a rod. He didn't know how they ate, he gave them all to a Vietnamese Guy fishing by him. They used cut squid on a small circle hook fishing on the bottom.

No. It ends in scape.
When we go, I'll post some pictures of the action if there's any going on.
Thanks for the info guys
