Fort Morgan Fishing this Weekend

Heading to Phoenix West for the weekend, finally on the Gulf Shores side, so I wanted to make a trip with my brother-in-law over to Fort Morgan to see if we could land some bulls or fish the beach for pompano.
Anyone been over there lately, or fish it relatively often. Never been out there personally, looking for any tips you guys have. Only read about FM on the yearly OB post or on other websites?

Dixey bar is best on a falling tide. If you have a boat I can help but I've never fished off the bank.

You gonna get killed in a yak out there.
Spend 400 and call Nicole Charters - he'll let ya troll for 4 hours and you will catch some big reds and other stuff....

i'm honestly not sure you could paddle against that current when it's running. You may be able to but it would work the crap out of you.
I use croakers that are 4-6" on 4000 and up spinning rods.
30 lbs test braid with 20-30lbs flouro leader.
4/0 hook and up and the smallest weight that would get the line to the bottom. Usually 1/2 to 3/4.
you will be east of the ship channel and just drift back.
Repeat.

Theres a good thread on how to fish that area off the beach from a few years back by Polar Pop. Give it a search. He had them figured out.
