Having never used them before are they the best thing since sliced bread or a PITA fragile useless money hole?

I always thought they were cool, but I've never owned any. I just use the neopreme cover that came with my Leupold scope.

I've had a pair of Butler Creek caps on my rifle for 20 years, fragile they arent'. I like them mainly because they keep dust and mud out of my scope, and they're attached to the rifle (not easily lost/misplaced, cumbersome to deal with, etc.) and quick to open.

Ive had the butler creeks before and I always seemed to break them one way or another. So I finally bit the bullet and got the metal Leupold ones. So far so good going on 3 years now.

I buy these if I were going to run them. I should probably get some, just havent shot as much lately and scope caps are way down the list of what I want.

I have them on all my scopes. All my scopes are Leupold. I have the leupold magnetic covers which you can get through Cabelas on-line. Expensive but worth it.

x 2 as I have scopes ranging from $200 to $1500 as I view the "scope caps" as preventative maintenance to protect against, dust, oil, dirt, debris, and water which can harm the lens coatings.

I also make a "dope chart" which fits inside the cap and lets me know where to aim at various yardages.
