Kind of OT. But I've never seen it this bad in my career. Usually long haul loads that pay a lot get snatched up within hours. I've got product backed up for weeks. I've got a load from south MS to northern VA that has been in the system for 2 weeks. That's a $2100 run into a part of the world that's easy to get a backhaul.

It's a good sign for the economy. But damn it's frustrating. Customer is pissed. Hurts cash flow. Shipping shed is overflowing with product stacked outside in the weather.

Just venting. The OB has come to my rescue in the past. Just curious if anyone here has a truck that needs a load! Cheers.

If I was to buy a truck and a flatbed trailer, where would one find these loads?

There's a bunch of Web sites. If you are in the deep south, Jones Logistics has a Web site that lists Available Loads. It says where they pickup is, where the destination is, and how much it pays.

In the same business, we've struggled to secure trucks in the last month or so moreso than in probably the previous 12-18 months. It typically means the economy is somewhat on an upswing and my alcohol consumption is up.

You ain't kidding. I'm gonna remember this shite when things slow down and carriers are calling asking for business.

you know what else you can't get?
a fricking roll off dumpster

I've got two jobsites with dumpsters overflowing and starting another Monday where I need three and had to pay thru the nose for one.

She's great. Totally as advertised.

1) she's needy. Demands attention.

2) sweet as pie

3) whenever I leave her alone she gets into trouble. Finds something and chews it up.

4) she's an athlete. She can jump into the truck, sail across the console, and land in the passenger seat without touching anything

5) my kids adore her

6) think I'll keep her

They are my usual carrier. Apparently it's not that easy. But thanks for the idea.

Will do. Trying to get some weight on her. For a stray, she's a picky eater! I'm on dog food brand #3. She will eat this one, but she doesn't eat a full serving at one sitting. It takes her all day to get through two 16 Oz Solo cups of food in her bowl. I'm gonna try a couple more brands to see if she will hammer one down.

Last week was the first time in years I had a supplier call me and say he flat out couldn't get trucks to get loaded, needed 3 loads from Alexandra to West Texas. Oil field booming is the reasoning they're hearing, West Texas is crazy right now with activity. Finally got them 3 days later.
