a fishing or hunting license certifies you in absolutely nothing. its only proof that you've paid a fee. an actual license, like a driver's license, certifies that you've completed the necessary training to operate a vehicle safely.

if its a tax to fish or hunt than just call it that. however, i cant for the life of me see why i should be taxed to pull a fish out of public waters. i dont pay a special drivers fee to pay for the police department.

The state needs money to operate the department. These fees pay for that department operation...

To be fair, younger age groups are required to have a hunter safety certificate to get a hunting license.

For the most part they are revenue generating user fees that help fund wildlife and fisheries efforts and they are generally minimal unless you cross state lines.

i completely understand that point. but why do i have to be taxed to pay for the enforcement agency only when it comes to wildlife activities. i dont have to pay special driver's fees to pay for the police department.

i think brake tags are a joke as well. license renewal fees pay for the DMV to operate i believe, not the police department.

State owns those fish. You are paying to take those fish.

You license fee goes to cover multitudes of things.
- LDWF (game wardens, biologists, studies)
- Wildlife Managements Areas and other public areas
- Conservation
- Improvement of wildlife habitat

You are paying to ensure the longevity of what you enjoy to do. This is the best kind of tax/fee. It's like a toll bridge; you pay because you use it. You don't pay for something you're not using.

If there were anything to complain about it should be the opposite of this

because a portion of your hunting license fees (taxes) helps pay for the DW&F agents' salaries

when some meth head trespasses on your land/lease illegally shooting deer, who are you gonna call to enforce the laws ?

hunting/fishing licenses in LA is pretty darn cheap and I have no problem with money allocated to support green jeans

You can't play in the King's woods and water ways without the King's permission.

Everyone is missing my point. I know what the "licenses" pay for. I've said this more than once.

Why can't wildlife agents be paid the same way cops are? I don't have to run to t-pops to buy a "police license" just so I can drive to grand isle.

They get more of their revenue through other taxes that are more universal to all people since everyone uses their services.

Hunting and fishing license money goes more towards the specific causes of game management and conservation. people who have no desire to hunt would bitch and moan if they had to pay for that in their income taxes, so the state gives the bill to the hunters that actually use it.
