Just bought my first crossbow. A Carbon Express. I'm very impressed with accuracy and what I perceive to be the power of the bolt hitting the target at 25 yards. I don't hunt, so this is for fun and target practice only. But this thing reminds me of my AR. A platform for accessories. Any tips on what accessories are best for a newbie? It came with a decent scope and rope cocker. Thinking about a crank cocker due to my age and an old shoulder injury. Any tips on shooting crossbows or buying accessories is much appreciated. Thanks very much!

Yeah you're gonna catch some shite for using a crossbow. But they can deal with it. I have a crossbow also. After over 20 years in the active duty military and a major shoulder injury and surgery, they can kiss my arse.

The only thing I have to suggest is a high quality target.

academy sports has carbon express and headhunter bolts for about $5 or less. Nufletch has lighted nock you can replace your bolts factory nock with. Comes in a 6 pack (3 halfmoon and 3 flat with 3 lights. ) the lights are basically fishing bobber leds. The lights help with any bolt recovery if your shooting in the evening and happen to miss. If you want to get a lot of diffrent broadheads, Amazon is your friend for getting Chinese factory nock offs

After shooting for a while check your scope mount bolts for losening, a dab of lock tight can help.

a little clear fingernail polish or Loctite on every screw. They will work loose after a few shots. I found the standard rope cocking device easier / faster than winding the crank as long as you are able to stand to do it.

After losing several bolts, I got a pack of the lighted nocks to help find them In the leaves / grass after a pass through. It helps find them a little easier and I don't give up as quick when looking for them - because now I have a ten dollar arrow out there vs a 5 dollar arrow

I have bought most of my bolts off Amazon. I can save a good bit of money, but you also cant inspect them prior to purchase. Its a trade off when I can buy two packages of 6 for about the same as 1 pack at Academy of Cabelas. I still end up with more arrows for cheaper per arrow even if I toss one or mark a few "target only"

After shooting mine for a year with a no mag red dot, I'm looking for a 4x scope for mine.
