Looking to get a gun for home defense... I have only shot rifles but I want a pistol to keep in the bedside table. Since im not familiar with pistols I want to take a safety class and go to the range before I make the purchase

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Precision and Baker Range are your best bets. I'm sure they have plenty of classes.

If you want an opinion on a HD gun though, I'd snag a shotgun.

Check these guys out PnD Concealed Carry

I they have a free handgun 101 style class coming up in March if you wanted to wait that long.

You know I used to think this, but having a pistol on top/in your night stand is a helluva lot easier than getting a shotty from under the bed or something IMO.

Thats why I want a pistol.

I have pretty much already made my mind up on a glock 19

Im sure someone will give me shite for wanting a glock, but reliability is the most important thing to me.

Also at the rate things are going I might as well get a 19 and get my CC eventually for when I want to venture to the mall

I have been told glocks are reliable and easy to use..... am I mistaken?

I know there are lots of reliable guns... just going for the basic gun

I dont hate on glocks, I dont get the love obsession some people have though.

I have a rather small gun "collection." 3 sigs, a 9mm, 45, and AR and my daily carry is a S&W .380.

ETA: trying to buy a colt combat commando in 9mm but this boob wont return my emails.

It's like Ford vs Chevy. Every body has a favorite for whatever reason. No doubt they are as good as it gets for reliable.

thats not up to us to decide. the LSP permit application dept will weight all your previous records.

as a word of caution, when you fill out your app, be sure to not leave anything out. if you do, and they find it, forget about it.
