I started a deck project a while back, figured i'd share some pics of what we did.
We used Tigerwood for the decking. Overall size of the deck is 21'6" long x 12' on the sides and 13' in the center. It has a small arc to it. I should have taken more of the in progress, but this is what i have.

Washed with no railing

Close up of wood after it dried and with IPE oil

Black Aluminum railing added

6" x 6"
Had to use an auger because of the slope and that tree to the right in the first picture. Went minimum 2' in the ground, some went more than that because of the slope and height in the front. For the ledger board, we used 2 x 8 bolted to the slab. I epoxied it 3/4 of the way into the slab and there are 6 x 6 supports just cause i had some left over.

Looks nice.

I just hate the way decks look after a year or two which is why I think composite is worth the extra expense.

the wife had the same problem, which is why i went with tigerwood decking. My understanding is that if you oil it once a year, the color should last a very long time. The price was 2.60 per foot for 1 x 6 pregrooved.

Nope, I had an idea and design in mind and me a few people went to work on it.
