I think Bait House Seafood in Chauvin has some live shrimp. I went by there last week and the sign said they did. I have a bunch of ppl coming in next weekend that don't fish much so I'm going to load up with live shrimp and let them get after em.

Loaded up the yak this morning and launched out of Sweetwater around 6:30. It was pretty tough fishing, water was muddy and super low. I guess that north wind has cleared it out. Ended up catching 5 reds and keeping 4. Also caught a little bass. All fish were caught on a gold spoon in deep cuts with moving water.

Yep. That's where we found them last weekend.

Not a sign of life anywhere else. The only place I saw any action was in the cuts that were 4'-6' deep. And once the tide died, so did the fishing.

Sweetwater didn't have any ice, so I used the little bit I had in my drink cooler, I guess it's from not being chilled immediately. They looked normal when I caught them.

All 4 were between 16 1/2" and 17 1/2". Perfect size.

Couldn't find anything but 26" and up last weekend. I don't like keeping those.

I want to fish Delacroix sooner rather than later. I like learning new areas.

1 year ago - Never forget

I was actually talking to DeaconJones the other day about making a revenge trip.

I MIGHT be able to pull one off this summer, but Im not sure. Worse case scenario is that I will have to go back down in the fall, and I if I am correct, the fishing is pretty good then?

That's the best time to go to Delacroix imo
Right before winter the water is crystal clear.. Makes for a good trip.

That is what I wanted to hear.

I will hold off this summer and plan on giving it another run in October or something.
