S&W M&P Bodyguard 380
Anyone else carry one of these? How do you carry... Pocket/Wallet, IWB, Sticky, etc?

+1, that's my wife's CC and the trigger is a couple miles long. But, that's what she felt comfortable shooting and carrying so that's what she got. Carrying one is always better than carrying none.

I don't get the trigger dispute on a CC gun... you pull it for one reason and that's to go bang. I'm not doing any competition shooting with this gun.

Congrats on the new gun, MB. I've got a 380 (Kel-Tec P3-AT) for cc, as well. but I rarely carry it. I usually carry a 9mm or 45 ACP. The 380 is used when clothing prevents me from carrying a bigger gun. To me, a 380 is small enough that it should be used as a "pocket gun." I don't see a reason to carry it IWB; if one's going to cc a gun IWB, they might as well get a slightly bigger 9mm instead of a 380. I carry my 380 in a front pocket holster made by Woolfe Gun Leather (must not be in business anymore as they no longer have a website). Some people use rear pocket holsters, but the pockets in my pants are the right size for this. OTOH, you can buy a rear pocket holster and use it for either rear OR front pocket carry. I bought a back pocket holster from www.bearcreekholsters.com shortly after they started business. I asked him to use removable Chicago screws to I could put on or take off the panel, depending on how I wanted to use the holster. I use the rear pocket holster to carry a Kel-Tec PF9 in the front pocket of many pants and cargo pockets of pants and shorts. Be sure your holster covers trigger. Practice a lot w/ your gun to be sure you handle it well and that it runs well. Also practice enough w/ your self defense load to be sure that load runs well, also. I practice w/ Winchester white box (fmj) ammo from WM, but carry Speer Gold Dot.

From my personal experience, I can highly recommend Bear Creek and Side Guard Holsters.. Both provided me a quality product at a nice price w/ quick turnaround.

Who the hell downvoted Tiger^? He's got some great advice.

Anyway, congrats on your new CC gun. I agree with Tiger in that carrying this in your pocket is really what the gun is made for. If you plan to carry in your waistband, you may as well snag a single stack 9mm too. The Desantis Nemesis is what my dad carries his 380 with and he's been satisfied with it. I would suggest you give it a looksee.

I have a 40 cal that I will likely use in the Winter as my CC gun. I just wanted something smaller for lighter clothing. For cc purposes the difference between 380 and 9mm won't make much of a difference IMO.

ETA: but I do have my eye on a Glock 43...

My first CC gun was a Ruger LC9. I couldn't shoot it accurately at all. The trigger was was too long. I switched to a Kahr CM9 which is also kind of long, but it's super smooth. I try and recommend the CM9 every chance I get.

Was there a reason you chose the body guard over the shield?

They bodyguard is a good gun, i just prefer a 9mm as a CC.

I have the xds9, and I have the IWB sof tuck holster by DeSantis, its pretty comfortable.

I use to carry it at my 4 o'clock, but found it to be much more comfortable carrying it at my 6 o'clock, especially if i have my extended mag in.

It takes a little bit to get use to concealing regularly, but it will eventually become second nature. Congrats on the new gun!

My first CC gun was a .380 and I moved up to 9mm. So glad I did. But I've shot that bodyguard and it's not horrid. Trigger needs a little TLC like everyone said

I've heard this a dangerous position to carry. Get knocked flat of your back, damaging your lower spine is a possibility. Riding in a wheelchair is a possibility too.

Agreed, I also don't want a gun in my pocket or inside my waistband to have a hair pin trigger for that tiny chance the safety isn't switched on or somehow gets knocked to fire.

Most of the shooting done in a life and death situation is likely to be at very close range.

I agree with your position about a super light trigger but this makes little sense to me. You shouldn't be carrying a gun loose in your pocket anyway. Put it in a holster and protect that trigger!

Might be a little late with that advice.

I would respectfully suggest that if you need to draw a gun for self-defense, you will will definitely be in a competition.

p.s. The advice previously offered regarding pocket holsters is very valid.

You pull it to save your families life or your own. Can't put a price on that. If it feels off, or you second guess the ability to hit the target because trigger pull, weight, feel, etc. its probably worth looking into to replace

I really don't see how anything bigger that a 380 can be concealed comfortably. I guess you get used to it after some time. I also understand you have to put compfort to the side of you want to be protected.

It depends on your method of carry. If you're trying to shove a double stack 9mm in your pocket you'll probably have some issues. But if you carry in your waistband your options open up quite a bit.

So I finally got around to shooting my S&W Bodyguard 380 and I'm not a huge fan of it. I don't like the sights and I don't like that you can see the hammer on the gun, I find it distracting. I will definitely be in the market for a Glock 42 or 43.

Most pocket 380s are going to have crappy sights, but I'm with you on the hammer. Its hard not to watch it.

I tell you though, my brother picked up a Taurus tcp 380, and I shot that little thing very well compared to most compact pistols, even the shield. I still haven't figured out why.
