I am in the market for a new wood privacy fence as well. I need to replace about 70' of fence with some "horizontal" design my wife found in one of her garden magazines.

I'd be interested in any reputable leads for the south Baton Rouge area off Highland Road.

Fwiw, fencing is literally the easiest carpentry thing you can do. It's like the Mac-n-cheese of carpentry.

Yes, I realize this. I helped my son-in-law put his in to corral the grandkids. But, honestly even simple carpentry is not my strength and I'm not gonna do my own.

I also want guidance on proper materials, stains, etc.

Use cedar fence boards. And make sure the posts are 2.5'-3' in the ground.

If to use pine fence boards (cheap or "select"), your fence is going to look like shite within 2 years and it can't be washed and restained with any success. Cedar has a very low propensity to warp.

The fence and carport are needed in baton rouge. Looking for something similar to this. Going to need the concrete as well.

Would also need a breezeway to the house similar to this

Fence wise something like this or just a regular fence.

Guesswho....do you have any recommendations? Got a quote from someone. Do you think 20-25k is high for fence and carport?

FYI, if you build a carport without a roof and walls and it is not attached to your home with a walkway, then under your homeowners insurance it will fall to other structures. Under other structures, a building needs a roof and walls to be considered a building structure. Why is this important? Well non building structures are deprecated on most policies as actual cash value (no replacement cost)...
