Had a crawfish boil today and have some live ones left over. I was thinking about taking them to Big Lake to use as bait. Is this a bad idea?

no but small half dollar size crabs from the trawl are great for catching reds.

I went with a coonass buddy of mine to run jug lines in Lake Salvador. We baited with live crawfish and caught redfish, drum, a speck a few bass and a shite ton of catfish....... suprised the hell out if me.
