Ok I've got a couple of different people who are wanting me to come deer hunt with them. I'm to the point in the season that I'm holding out for a big buck for my last buck tag. My friends are wanting me to shoot a smaller one for them if I see one and let them tag it. They are only looking for meat. What would you do?

Well I have several doe tags that I'm looking to fill for myself. I've just seen more bucks this year by a wide margin. Two of the guys are the only ones on their own places. I would rather shoot does all day long. They taste better.

I understand what you're asking. Go ahead and drop one for them.

Just because it isn't legal doesn't mean it's unethical.

Just don't touch it after you choot it, and let them walk up and tag it.

One happens to own a lot of land but also has a degenerative condition that means he can't sit in most stands for more than about an hour, and thats pushing it. Used to be a big time recurve hunter, just can't make it anymore. The other just has no idea WTF he is doing. I'm trying to teach him as he goes but its a slow process.

do whatever that man wants, but i would ask him if he'd rather have a doe before agreeing to kill a small buck

I would shoot a doe off of his land for him.

Would tell him to keep trying or he is going to starve.

I'd consider it if they were there hunting too.

Don't screw up your management plan on your place just to give them meat.

If it's on their place, blast away. Just make sure you get a backstrap in return for your effort.

One of the places is being sold any day now. I've fed over 1000 pounds of high protein supplement and spent close to 200 hours this year alone improving the land and its getting yanked out from under us with 10 days notice. After being in the family for 80+ years someone who hasn't been on the place for 50 years decided to sell it just to piss off my FIL. So my management plan is effectively fricked on that one.

The other is not land that I hunt normally, just going to help him try and get some meat.

I would invite all my friends to that place to fill all the tags they wanted to.
