Can anyone recommend a good brand from Academy or Cabela's? I'm running out there this evening to get a set for the Tactical Response class I'm taking this weekend.

Thanks bros.

I've seen those a lot.

Think Academy stocks them?

I also saw a recommendation on a 3M set on The Bang Switch.

I have the pro ears, I do a lot of shooting and they are the cat's meow. If I am doing shooting with others with muzzle breaks I do foam plugs under the pro ears. You can get them from Cabela's that's where I got mine, have been very happy with them.

sound gear

Don't believe Academy sells these. If you have time to order and the extra money to get some they are great. I've been using them for 3 years, found at an NRA banquet, and are the best I've used. I have only tried the ear buds.

I've got the 3M Peltor tactical Sports...

They come with black covers to use in place of the orange...I use the orange while working the range...

They run $119 @ Academy, but haven't seen them there in a while

Just picked up that exact set. They are super comfortable and the noise cancelling properties are very effective.

Still can't figure out the headphone jack thing though...

I'm not a portable music person so that's a feature I have not used, so I can't help you there...

these are the most comfortable set I've tried...I wear them for 5 hours straight while working the range...only thing that gets uncomfortable is if I am wearing normal shooting glasses for that long...so I bought a pair of Barska convertible shooting glasses that can clip onto your hat brim...

order a set of the slip on nylon(?)covers for them if you wear them hours at a time...

Not sure about Academy or Cabela's, but in the long run you'll be glad you got a set with automatic power off feature (to save batteries).

Congrats on the TR class. Not sure if you'll have Yeager as your instructor, or one of his cadre. Either way it'll be good.

Lots of folks want to bash Yeager for his post-Sandy Hook comments or his Iraq experiences. He has acknowledged making a few intemperate remarks in the past, but he's an excellent trainer.

You taking a handgun class, or carbine, or shotgun ?

The set I got has a 4 hour auto-off feature.

I'm taking fighting rifle. I wanted to start wit fighting pistol but my friend going with me had taken it already. So I'll be taking that one again in the future.

I'm also not sure if Yeager is doing my class but I have heard nothing but great things from people who have taken the class. I'm pretty excited.
