I am installing the Supernova Extreme Kayak Kit which consist of 8 light strips total which are run to 2 different switches and connected to 12v lithium ion battery. I soldered all of the connection for the larger outside lights just fine, but I am having trouble with the 4 4" lights installed on the inside of the kayak. When I go to turn them on they are blowing the 5amp fuse. I've tried bypassing the fuse to test them and the lights come on, but the wire gets extremely hot. Since these lights are much smaller than the outside lights, I would think they would be pulling less power. Any ideas on why this could be happening?

Sounds like you got a short somewhere. LEDs shouldn't be popping the fuse.

and one other thing. I didn't see where your link said it has a Lithium Battery. Did you hook up your own battery? Lithium batteries need internal shut off when voltage on any of the cells drops below the threshold. If you've wired in a battery yourself and it has no circuitry protection you're at risk of ruining the battery and or it exploding.

btw, That kit i linked up. You can change the colors to whatever you want.

What size wire you use for 4" strips?

You sure you don't didn't splash some solder bridging to ground somewhere?

I had the same problem when I put LED strips in my boat. Had a short in the light itself. Sent it back, put the new one in, works like a charm.
