This came across my facebook feed from KALB TV. LINK

The note about strongest since 1997 is what caught my eye.

I've been duck hunting since the late 80's and to this day 1997 was the best season I can remember.

Too soon for this?

In many states, hunters said they did well early in the season, but mild weather, possibly linked to El Nino, dispersed the birds and made hunting more difficult as the season progressed. Migrating birds might have stopped short of some southern states, where many hunters reported a poor season.

o Mississippi Flyway — Hunting success varied greatly, with some hunters reporting excellent seasons while others reported very poor seasons. The general pattern in many areas seemed to reflect good success early in the season and declioning success thereafter. Notable exceptions were Catahoula Lake in Louisiana, where hunting success was the best in many years, and Missouri, where the duck harvest could be the highest since 1975. Hunters in Mississippi, Alabama, eastern Tennessee, southern Ohio, and parts of Louisiana and Kentucky reported poor hunting through

So 97 was the year your dad got you a decent piece of property to hunt on? Or you had a buddy with a good lease?

Wait, I know, it was the first ever 60 day season.

97 wasn't shite compared to 95 and 96. And not much ranks with 2000. I killed democrat ducks like Jery Curl expect I didn't pay $25 a piece for them and I actually was able to fill my limits.
