Isn't it early to actually be able to tell realistic duck numbers. I mean we're 4 1/2 months away from regular duck season. Never understood these early number reports.

This is the way it works, they survey the pond counts in early spring then after breeding is concluded they do aerial surveys of brood counts and then you get bird counts. They have been doing this for over 50 years it seems to have worked so far....

Also how far away is Canada and the northern US season? They all have to be set at the same time.

I dunno, but I wish the C-backs would follow suit.

Divers appear to be having a tough go (other than canvasback).

Mallards are taking over.

You want can numbers to drop? Confused

Black duck numbers way down (-11% below 2014).

Pintails the only concerning one -24 on the long term.

DU habitats doing good things for the "big ducks" that don't make it down anymore.

Exactly. Last year we had multiple hunts of kill your c-backs, and hundreds upon hundreds were locking up into the decoys....without any other species coming in. Fun watching them, but it surely didn't help fill limits.

Same gibberish we hear every year. DU has to talk it up so the duck hunters will get all fired up and spend that money. As usual, some have spank blinds and a lot struggle.

If you look historically at the years that we were able to kill 2 cans the numbers were lower than what they are now. I will NEVER claim to be Lreynolds or anyone with the USFWS, but I think it's the best chance to shoot 2 cans a day in a few years.

We get a ton of them too and I LOVE to shoot Cans by far my favorite bird to shoot. Of course we are blessed with a whole bunch of other birds to shoot also!

shite ponds if you wrap them in bacon with cream cheese and a jalapeno.

I'm not going out and looking for them, but if they fly by, they're definitely getting shot at.
