I have a Sure Shot calls hat that I wear pretty much all the time. It's one of those platinum series hats like the old yeti ones. Super comfortable.
If it's cold and windy, like this morning, merino balaclava and a windproof beanie.

I can't stand one of those ski mask things, I will pull up the collar on my old Columbia and wear a sock har on top of my cap or fils on hat when cold.

Honestly I don't like them either. I keep the facemask part pulled down enough to call anyways. They sure are warm though, and I'm a fan of that.
