After overbuying on decoys in 2008-2010 I'm looking at some of the newer models. Anybody have opinions on the Avian-X decoys that are out? The last time I bought GHG wasn't very established and G & H was the upper end of what was available. Curious how these Avian-X have held up for anybody who owns them? Better than the GHG made in China models?

Curious myself as I am in the market for some new decoys. I have a couple dozen G&H from the 90's and a few flambeau. The Avian-X seem the most lifelike.

I've been to the G&H factory and really dig their decoys. Their paint lasts forever which is really important to me. It is part of the molding process, not added after the fact.

The Avian-X do look awesome though. I haven't had any experience with them personally though.

Next time I buy decoys, it will be G&H. I'm in it for the long haul though. Quality, baw.

Yeah that's why I am wondering about the Avian-X. Some of them look like real ducks to me from afar the craftsmanship is so good, but I don't know how the paint holds up the last couple of years. I know like G & H they are made in the US. All you see on hunting gear boards is old stuff from 2012 and back.

I have some g and h gadwall that are atleast 15 years old. I bought them from a Co worker and they are still in great shape. I've hunted over avian x teal and I must say I'm impressed. They are rubbery and the paint hasn't chipped on them and they are two years old, so my next decoys will be avianx.my Flambeau were cheap so you get what you pay for but they do the job.

The paint sucks on them. After 1 season of hard use they need to be re-painted.

Most of the decoys now are painted like crap and do not last besides g and h and avian. I've had pretty good luck with my ghg teal. I mean if you are ob Ballin you can get Dakotas.

Academy Carver's Edge.

First flight is also decent. great price and the plastic is a little softer so they give a little instead of cracking.

I've used Avian-X for the past two seasons, and they are still in perfect condition.

Hard to go wrong with either Avian-X or Dakotas.

Blue Collar Decoys.. Durable, realistic and second to none. Check them out. Website isn't up and running yet, but they do have a face book page.

Did they get a gadwall mold yet or are they still using widgeon bodies with gadwall paint schemes?

I've bought a dozen of the Avain-X mallards and pintails to try last season. So far they look as good as new after one season. My buddy uses Dakotas and I have been impressed how well they held up also.
