Doing a little fishing

on this beautiful Oregon day. Fishing for surgeon, catch and release as they aren't open.

Got two so far.
First one was about 24"...second is keeper size (42") if they were open.

By the way they're shaped, I'd assume they are bottom feeders?? Do you fish for them like catfish? What bait?

they are bottom feeders....Im using smelt but you can use shrimp or herring too.

the one and only.....got 6 in the group now.....they're feeding hard right now.

their are more surgeon between Portland and astoria, Oregon than anywhere else in the world.

Nice sturgeon. That's still on my target list...never caught one. They've changed up the slot limit in CA this year and the way you measure them.

Fine eating species right there.
