I used to do it almost every weekend. The one weekend i didn't go, all my buddys got busted for trespassing. The littering was getting so out of hand that the landowners were having LDWF come out a write tickets.

All that said, you are allowed to ride thompson creek, but the second your tire hits land on either side, you could be written a citation if you get caught. like many other things, the few sucky people have ruined it for everyone else.

I don't think this is true. You aren't allowed to ride on the creek at all.

yeah the littering got them. Had leased the land on the west side just south of the bridge with about a mile of creek frontage. it was getting out of control. One time 3 yrs ago I was coming from norwood and they must of had 50 bikes below the bridge, including one with a stripper platform on the back. my eyes cant unsee that stripper on that platform when I stopped to see what the hell was goin on.

Another time I was planting and it came a gully washer storm. I was sitting on the porch and here came this guy buzzing by on his 4 wheeler. our camp was a good mile from the creek and the only access out of the creek was our gate, which I knew he had rode around or broken the gate. I hop in the truck and go to the gate and there is about 20 4 wheelers with guys n gals. Much better looking crowd than the stripper pole crowd. I let them all come thru the gate and escorted them to the hwy but was pretty pissed about doing it. They had no way out and the creek was roaring but still didn't like the fact of having to escort them past 15 nice deer stands and seeing all our equipment back there

Thanks for the info guys. Im not going to chance it. I'm just trying to find new places to go riding. Im burnt out on Tower Trax. Ive rode at a couple places in Mississippi that were nice. Copiah Creek and Burdens Creek. Its such a long drive. There was a place in Zachary called The Pitts. Not sure if that place is even open anymore. Ive tried calling them but no answer. Anyone know about that place?

We used to ride quads a lot down Thompson's creek, comite, spillway, all the time. They just got too strict. Hated going to tower trax bc you spent more time getting unstick or fixing broke shite. Everyone I rode with got out of riding. Sold everything bc there was nowhere to go. We moved to riding mx and trails, but most places have nixed that too.

Technically it isn't legal to ride the creek since the landowner on each side owns half of the creek in the middle of the flowing water. I live there and we ride it all the time. As long as you don't litter and ride all the time during hunting season it will be fine. People started getting tickets because when the Comite shut down they had about 300 jeeps that came and roe and wrecked peoples personal land and littered everywhere. Since living in Jackson is so close to he Pitts in Zachary we go there a ton. In fact we are going this weekend on Saturday. Should be a good turnout there. Pitts has got a bunch of deep water holes a decent amount of great mud holes and access to her portion of the Comite River. Be careful on the Comite though. Also don't get on in Norwood unless you got permission to park some where then ride down the bridge. Get on in Jackson.

Comite and Thompson Creek are scenic waterways, do not ride them.

Where exactly is the Pitts located? My brother and I tried to go one time but even on google maps we couldn't find the place. We went down a terrible gravel road that was mostly flooded at the time. Google maps showed us another way going in through a neighborhood which lead us to the same road but on the other end. There were no signs or anything. We weren't sure we were in the right place. So we left and went to Tower trax.

if your in Zachary on main street and pass Walmart and Wendy's ans Autozone and those stores on main street you get to tractor supply a couple miles later. You pass this bridge and turn on this teribl gravel road and go down for abut a mile and you tun into the trailer with large pond in front and te front of driveway says the pitts

Not sure about in Norwood but our land backs up to Thompson creek just north of St Francisville and they will give you a ticket and make you leave if you are riding there. A few years ago they even had a helicopter out pointing police to where riders were.

Thing is we really didn't care EXCEPT for the fact assholes would throw beer cans all over the creek on the property which is the reason the cops finally started cracking down.
Remember you are riding on private property a lot when doing this.

Comite and Thompson Creek are scenic waterways, do not ride
---

Only the Comite is Scenic.

Thompson is privately owned by landowners and is not a state claimed water body.

Scenic streams do not allow ATV use unless you get authorization from LDWF.
