I worked in the arctic and had an inuit as ‘wildlife monitor”. So on day one I see the lee enfield rifle he had and yep it was from the great war – after WW1 the Cdn govt gave surplused lee enfields to inuit etc and lets say it was well used. The rifle was beat to sh**te so I asked the ‘monitor” to put a round in a stump that was 75yds away – he dead centred it and became my new best friend.
He said the last time he used the gun was a few days earlier on a seal hunt – he brought some muktuk the next week (its rotted blubber) but I passed – I took a sniff but no way I could eat it.

Never saw a bear while I worked up there

I always wanted to go and look at the Bear. I remember some type of artillery gun in the front as well.
