Just heard of this concept. How many of you have done this?

I heard of this when OB first started with the oil injection. There were a few models that didn't work as advertised and it spread like wildfire and everybody started to disable this feature and they went back to premix. But engine makers have figure it out and they are a lot more realiable.

Did it on old 90hp johnson. Mechanic told me thats why i broke piston rings cuz too much oil. Just unhooked hose and started adding to fuel. No issue

Buddy did it on a 90 yammy, don't have to worry about it any more. Definitely the way to go.

I've heard that each cylinder is oil injected so if one quits getting fuel you have to rebuild if the modification is made. Not a mechanic but did hear something about this.

Had it done on my old 90 merc. I don't think I'd do it to a new one.

I haven't heard of an oil injection system failing in a long time.

I have known a few people to do it. It isn't a big deal unless you have a large built in tank then it is a major pain in the arse to ensure proper mix. I had the oil injection on a 1994 225hp merc outboard go out and it is amazing how a 50 dollar part can cripple you.

Are you thinking about doing it or something?

I wouldn't if I was you unless your year model for some reason had issues with injection going out.

No, I use it as a crazy person identifier. That, and believing in chem-trail.
