Brand new one is $15k installed, so no it isn't about time

JAB, I have no idea. It is on it's fourth engine now, and has been in the shop for 6.5 months. I cancelled my insurance at the 3 month point, but still have the $350 note every month

Just can't seem to find a fricking used engine that is within spec. TNT won't warranty it if it isn't and they don't want to let it leave just to have to fix it again in 2 weeks.

It runs, but barely. Like I said, I think the rings are jacked, which would lead to scouring and a trashed engine within a month

I'm don't remember all the details of what you've been dealing with.

It does sum up quite well why I don't want a new diesel though.

Started with a blown head gasket and no cross-hatching on the cylinders. Ended up on it's 4th engine in 6.5 months now

Bout time to blow the whole thing up and start from square zero.

Honestly, I was gonna wreck it into a ditch coming from Coy's to TNT and total it. Could've gotten $25k for it. Never thought it would take this long and be so much of a PITA

You can bet your arse I'll do it next time

Costs about the same to rebuild it, so I went with an engine with 60k on it thinking it would be a good one. Didn't turn out that way

A new short block is $5k I believe. I might just try and get a refund from this engine place because they have sent me 3 bad ones so far, including one with two cracked pistons

You need to go wrap that rig around a telephone pole and be done with it.

Yeah...right around this point I'd just call the bank and tell them to come get it.

Hammertime

Is TNT the best place to get a diesel worked on around here? My 2008 Duramax is finally giving me some trouble I can't fix, especially in my current state of affairs with this feeding tube in my nose and such.

My programmer isn't throwing any codes but it is running like shite. Like won't go over 30 mph. I've tinkered with the programmer and done Internet research and such but I'm not having any luck.

My main mechanic won't work on stuff with aftermarket stuff on it.

No doubt. frick a diesel. They are awesome, but there's always that chance that you'll have to buy a $15k engine...

No god damn idea how 4 engines could be ruined within 75k miles. As far as the piston cracking, my guess is it got hot and in a bind on the rocker arms or hit the heads. Not a diesel mechanic though, so IDK.

EJW:

Yeah, even though it has taken so long for my shite to be done. It has been put on the backburner a few times waiting on new engines. Their mechanics are all factory and aftermarket certified in different areas. They have a "Ford specialist" and a "Chevy specialist".
