Members of the OB,
You have been very helpful in the past when it came to choosing a deer/hog rifle, as well as AR parts. I come to you with another question.
Elevated deer stand or ground stand?
The land in the Kiamichi Wilderness in OK. LINK
This is what the terrain looks like. We set up a pop up about 75 yrds from this feeder this year. It was the 1st time hunting there and we are still making some changes. Also, the feeder is about 20ft below from where we set up. So what would the OB do?
TIA

Lots of great looking climber trees.

With any stand, always use the wind. Deer 90% of the time walk with the wind. Tree or box stands are 100% better and the higher one gets, the better.

Tree stands give a couple advantages. One is visibility. Can you see farther if youre elevated, or will the canopy block your view? From that pic it appears you may be able to see good distances from a ground blind due to lack of underbrush. May not be an advantage there
Also you want to get above the deer. Deer do look up and they can still smell you but I can say Ive been busted ( sight and smell) many more times in a ground blind than in a tree stand.

Elevated deer stand
Best to get this

I would go with a 10ft leaning stand. Going higher won't increase visibility from the looks of it and it will be easily moved whenever necessary.

Suppose a bow & arrow deer hunter is sitting up in his tree stand, which is 10 feet above the ground. A deer is located 30 feet from the base of the tree, directly out from the hunter. If the hunter is using a tracer arrow how much line will it take for the arrow to reach the deer?

Lock on with some 20' climbing sticks
