They are closing deer season tomorrow at sun down until further notice due to the river levels rising east of highway 65 from Arkansas all the way down to Vidalia.

What in the actual frick? I hunt land that is east of 65 in Madison parish but my stand is about 40 yards from the highway. River deer won't even get close to me yet my season is done.

I'm in Tensas Parish. Is this real?

Yes
Any chance this could be overturned? I've let some nice deer walk because I was in no rush. I understand why they may do this but to say all land east of 65 from Arkansas to Vidalia is retarded

Has this ever been done before?

I know there are dumb asses that line up on the levee shooting deer as they come out of the flood waters but it sucks that the responsible and ethical hunters feel the pain of this

I agree it sucks, but is necessary. I think they have closed it 3 times or so in the last 20 years. I am not 100 % sure of this stat.

Gotcha...I've only been hunting this area the past 3 years so my knowledge of the history here is limited

So anything south of 425, [/img] Vidaliashould be good right?

Ihome did you make that map or find online?

I'm in Tensas. Got the word this evening. Pretty pissed about it

Pissed would be a nice way of putting it

A lil sunshine for you. You'll be able to pick up crawfish right off the road.

Well I do have the ability to hunt some land just west of 65 so my season isn't over so I'll give it a rating of just being pissed. I feel your pain though. My best hunting ground is being shut down.

This is the Map the LDWF sent out with the release. There is some talk that if the river continues to rise another foot or two the area could be expanded.
