I recently had centipede installed on our new construction lot. The grass is doing great but there are several spots that are extremely dark green and grow much better than the rest of the lawn. I have not fertilized anything yet since it has only been in about three months and I figured the sod farm had fertilized enough. Are the dark green areas just healthier than the rest?

If I had to guess it may be spots that are getting a little drier than other spots.

If new grass isn't thoroughly watered it can get drought stress quickly.

Just a guess maybe post some pics?

Something took a shite in the green spot within the last week. I have the same problem with 2 dogs shitting 3 times a day each. My yard looks like a cheetah

It very well could be my dog pissing in the yard causing the spots. I always thought urine killed grass but after researching it can help it.

There's a specific part of my lawn that I take a piss in off my patio about 3 times a week and it's by far the healthiest circle of grass I've ever had.

Its dog piss and its loaded with nitrogen and will eventually be too much and essentially be like fertilizer burn and will leave brown spots.

The only thing to circumvent this is by diluting the area wit water.

Yep, places where my dog pissed occasionally looked dark green and grew well. Yard was spotted. Place where he went all the time right off the patio eventually burned and died, looks terrible and now weeds took over there.

Very common misconception. But urine is a great fertilizer if it isn't overdone. I've been giving my crepe myrtles some help for years.
