Dark colored snake wrapped around a hawk?

I've never seen anything like it. Found a snake wrapped around a large hawk. Guess the hawk tried to kill snake and the snake wrapped around hawks neck and body. Was able to kill the snake and unwrapped the snake from the hawk....after about 2 minutes of catching its breath the hawk flew away. No idea what kind of snake, it was dark, almost black with similar pattern to a copperhead....but I don't know my snakes that well. Have seen a lot of these snakes, they are quick moving maybe a racer? Anyway, CSB I know, it was definitely a cool thing to see

Have you ever heard of the butterfly effect??

Probably a rat snake. Some are very dark, practically black. But a black racer would be solid jet black with no type of pattern.

I applaud your abilities, but I'd have taken a video and came here to post it.

The hawk picked a fight and lost, and you killed the snake. Poor snakes have the whole world against them.
But, I've seen videos and photos of these situations and often wondered what I'd do. I think I'd probably just let nature take its course. Hawks that don't recognize prey that's too large probably aren't the best to be passing on genes.
