i own one and think very highly of both the company and its weapons. I wish I had more time and money to really enjoy it, but the thousand or so times I've shot it I have been really impressed.

Ultra reliable. Watch Larry Vickers do the DDM4 torture tests. He shoots it with a shotgun, blows the gun up with tannerite, and a variety of other things. Gun performed very well.

top flight gun company.

be aware of what you're going to customize. important parts are the bolt carrier group, the barrel (twist rate), and trigger assemblies.

it's always best to do your research for a while with some patience, and build your own.

out of the box, DD is bad arse.

there are a LOT of parts in an AR. most guns purchased fully built will have some parts you will eventually feel that urge to upgrade "because you can."

consider the PURPOSE you're buying this AR for. is it for competition shooting? end of the world? just a range toy?

i got into it, and i got a colt 6920le, and i have only replaced the irons and the main grip. but i know myself, and if i had bought a DPMS, i'd have ended up replacing every single part until it was utterly NOT a DPMS... at which point i'd have had 2!

it's like Barbie dolls for men. i've spent so damn much on furniture and scopes now that i've spent more on that shite than i did the gun to begin with.
