Shimano Curado

Shimano Curado Baitcasting Reels (12/240, 14/190, 20/120, 6.9:1, 6 BB, Right retrieve)
With the Power grip

Its on their lightning deals so they will most likely sell out quickly and will only be available for a limited time

That's how much they normally retail for. And like the guy above me said, spend the extra and get a chronarch.

I bought 3 new curados on ebay for $135 each about a month ago. Brand new, still in the box, unopened.

There are 2 variations of the curado now...

Curado G Series
These sell for $160

Curado E Series
These sell for $250

The one on Amazon was the Curado 300EJ which retails for $270 and is designed with a higher gear ratio

But either way, it looks like the deal is over, but the reel is still listed for $215

or go with the Chronarch...

I've got a calcutta that has never been on the boat...could never throw a baitcaster(shameful...I know)

practiced in the yard for about a week...and gave up...what is it worth to someone if I sold it?

dang...$80-$100 depreciation for practicing in the yard for a week?

I'll just keep it and maybe my 13 year old son can learn to use it...

That was the lower side of the scale. The biggest problem with Calcutta resale is there are a lot fewer guys looking for round reels. I assume it's 5:1 gear ratio, which also hurts resale

FYI...I just checked and depending on model you could be looking at significantly more if you decide to sell. I'm not familiar with all the models of the round reels, but west coast guys seem to favor certain ones for throwing big swim baits

I wouldn't know what the ratio is, unless I went and looked at the box in my garage attic...I'm not a bass guy and have use spin casters all my life...thought I'd try my hand at a bait caster at my brothers recommendation(a bass fisherman)back in '99 haven't touched it since...

Guess it'll be my sons reel soon...

If it's a 14 year old reel, you're better off hanging onto it. You're not going to get much for it regardless of condition. For comparison Curado CU 200's sell for $50-$80 regardless of condition (within reason).

I wasn't thinking of selling it until I read this thread...I only thought about it, cause it never gets used...I'd rather see my son have it than lose much on it...Besides...it may become valuable one day like some of the vintage Penn Deep Sea reels...
