Crabbing?
Posted by Team Purple on 4/13/17 at 11:20 pm00
Where can I go to take my kids crabbing from land?

Do you have a boat?
Rockefeller refuge is usually good. If you have a boat go to the weirs. If not, go down Price lake road and crab off the side of the road.

It's been many years since I did this, but I can remember my grandparents having a camp in the marsh out of the island in point aux chenes. We used to stop on the island road at the little bridge about halfway to the island and run turkey necks on string from the area around the bridge.
Also, maybe anywhere on the way down to Grand Isle. You'll see little spots where people pull over to fish. Try there if there is some flowing water like a bayou. Wouldn't waste my time in a stagnant pond.
And certain times of the year, just running lines on the beach in Grand Isle is great. But I don't know exactly when they run the beach.

Anywhere along the road in Reggio/Delacroix. By the bridge at Paris Rd in Chalmette. Along the seawall of Lake Ponchartrain on the southshore from West End to Seabrook Bridge. Lake Road in Lacombe. All along the road down hwy 1. Also heard they do well in PAC along the road. I prefer to use turkey necks because they hold up better than chicken necks and lost longer as well.

located in Ascension Parish. Heard about a place near Mandeville.

You can crab along the seawall at mandeville harbor, but I don't think you will load up. You are better off driving the extra 20 min to lacombe and you'll catch all you want along lake road
