I live in BR near Bluebonnet and Highland. There is a large wooded area between Lakeside and Iberville Terrace. There have been a couple of coyotes with a bad case of mange within my yard. They look really sick and weak. I called animal control and they said there is not much they could do. Is there anyone else to call or should I just shoot them.

officially, you should probably call a trapper.

if I were you, I'd shoot the bastards with a .22 (CB or subsonic). If you put out poison you stand a good chance of killing someone's pet which could lead to a host of other issues.

+1, but shoot them in the gut so you don't have to deal with those POS

Not the most pleasant death for the yote, but unfortunately, they don't always lend themselves to a quick, painless dispatching.

TS for an animal that isn't supposed to be in this area of the country anyway.
if OP wasn't in an urban/suburban area i'd suggest another method. but with domestic dogs around it wouldn't be acceptable.

but Mack, we are intruding on THEIR land. We are the outsiders...

I always love when I hear this shite from the bunny huggers about yotes, wolves, or any other nuisance animal.

Take a picture and post on Facebook like all the crazy stray dog lovers. "free dog to good home. Must pay $40 re-homing fee"

Catch em and dunk em in old motor oil.

That'll kill the mange and make them your friends.

typical bleeding heart statement based on emotion

yotes, wolves, or any other nuisance animal

i actually don't have any problem with them in their NATIVE habitat where they belong. but 'yotes aren't native to this area.
hijack:
i got into a big debate with a good friend of mine regarding what wolf reintroduction has done to various elk herds (he is an elk hunter). he actually has to "hunt" for them now and not just scout and stalk. i like to trout fish and have noticed the water quality improve with a thinning of the elk herd because of reduced over-grazing of stream banks (moose included in the thinning).

You serious, Clark?

I would seriously like to watch.

But in all honesty, I don't really kill anything I'm not gonna eat. I'd rather see them run off.
