I'm getting into it this season. A buddy is taking me to get sized for a bow next week and help me get the gear I need. Any recs on a solid bow for a beginner?
dont spend a ton of money. Brand doesnt really matter, most bows are really nice now.. everyone just has their favorite brand. You will more than likely get the brand your friend has. I got the pse brute x.. spend $350 on it. and then got the sight i liked which is trophy ridge site with vertical pins instead of the old school horizontal pins.. gives me much better target vision. Check them all out and see what you like. Bowtech, pse, hoyt, matthhews, diamond, bear, all have excellent bows. Just know you dont have to spend $700-$1200 on a bow setup to kill deer.

I don't get too stoked until the first semi-cool front comes in. When that happens, it's on. August is gonna be a hot one planting though.

100%
That's just a great time of year. The onset of fall marks the beginning of all things great: bow season, football, perfect beer drinking weather, good trout fishing, good red fishing, duck season right around the corner, and the holidays.
Can't wait.

I'm having my first kiddo this year, around mid September, so more than likely I'll be sitting this year out but it will be worth it. Also already sold my LSU season tickets, so football and hunting season will be spent on my backporch this year cooking and drinking instead of at the camp or on campus. Hopefully I can get out there once or twice this year, we'll see!

Congrats on the kid.
Hey pop, I looked into some new spots, but nothing I was that excited about. Will probably still go with my buddy to his place up north of town some. Help thin the doe and hog population out.
