Anyone fished for bass or white perch lately? I'm guessing the bass fishing is slow.

Both would have to be caught at night. It will be the dead sea in the daylight hours.

White perch is the correct way to refer to sac-au-lait.

Maybe if you're a Yankee or Redneck, but Coonasses know they're sac-au-lait.

It's not even the same fish.

White Perch
Class: Osteichthyes
Order: Perciformes
Family: Moronidae
Genus: Morone
Species: M. americana

White Crappie
Class: Actinopterygii
Order: Perciformes
Family: Centrarchidae
Genus: Pomoxis
Species: P. annularis

According to a lot of reputable sources, including USGS, the white perch is not even found in Louisiana.

A Crappie is one of two varieties, either a Black Crappie (Pomoxis nigromaculatus) or White Crappie (Pomoxis annularis). The white perch (Morone americana) is not a true perch but is, rather, a fish of the temperate bass family, Moronidae, notable as a food and game fish in eastern North America.

Yet, it's our state fish.

I simply do not enjoy fishing Cotile. Only fished it when forced. I'd choose any other local lake first.

Just got back from parents house around Boyce. That oxbow to Red where they load coal for Cleco plant is really pretty right now. Rain today might screw it up, but given the choice between that and Cotile, I’d take oxbow.
