Copper Head or Rat Snake or..?

Was just now walkin my dog and this evidently recently fed fella crossed our path and headed toward our bushes. Is it a copper head? Pretty sure it is but some other snake look similar.

Longest recorded is 4'-4". That was was 5' plus. Tossed it in the weeds and didn't realize how big it was until later. Should have brought it to the Wildlife and Fisheries. I stepped on it and it struck me on my cowboy boots. Didn't penetrate thankfully.
