Connecticut home for 175 years, as we look to future growth we have a responsibility to consider all options that ensure we remain competitive and meet the needs and expectations of our customers,” Dennis Veilleux, CEO of Colt’s Manufacturing, said in a written statement.

Colt is the largest gun manufacturer with about 700 employees.

Mossberg, which has about 400 employees, said it will be expanding in the future, but not in Connecticut.

Stag Arms, with about 200 employees, and PTR Industries, with about 45, are the smallest gun makers of the bunch and have been forthcoming about moving. However, PTR Industries is the only one to give a list of potential candidates, citing Texas, South Carolina and New Hampshire.

Article says Texas, south Dakota, south Carolina, and NH all trying to woo these companies.

I say come to Louisiana. We have a nice old GM facility that is partially empty in Shreveport that could hold colt or some other gun manufacturer.

Any company that looks into the local govt of the area they are wanting to locate would laugh all the way back to Connecticut at the tomfoolery that is going on in Monroe.

ETA: the old GM plant is outside Monroe city limits but still.

It is totally out of hand for sure. They are making fools of themselves.

I guess they got tired of the Monroe City School Board getting all the attention for being dumbasses.

Toured the old Delphi plant while attending tech. It is nice and roomy inside. I thought Monroe's city limit had been extended Josey or was that just far enough out to keep Ouachita school in the city limits.

I could be wrong but for the sake of the old GM building, let's hope no Monroe governing authority has any say in it.

Haven't looked at the News Star in awhile but the inmates have been running the asylum since Monroe lost Mayor Rambin.

Every time I go home and drive up 165 to Simmons there's a new strip mall or building that has popped up in Sterlington - it's really growing out there.

The same 4 or 5 folks keep selling bits of land becoming more wealthy every time a white family leaves Monroe city for the burbs!

I was living out there before I moved to BR. It's real nice out there with good schools. And they've done a lot since I left.

The new Johnny's was within eyesight of my house.

What is funny is the fact that Fairbanks area was once considered boondocks and hickville. Now people are jockeying for acreage out there
