Looking to get a new holster for my Ruger LCP 380, anyone have one they really like? I have an leather IWB holster that is kind of bulky right now, and I'd like to get a different one. Also I'd really like one that could hold an extra clip if possible.

any holster that holds an extra magazine is going to be bulkier that what you have now.

IF I carried a .380 - it would be a LCP or Walther and it would be pocket carried - almost certainly in one of the Desantis or Galco pocket holsters.

I would probably do the same with one of the pocket 9s from Kahr or Kel-Tec, as well.

Carry the spare mag in another pocket.

I do too. It stays in my closet. For some reason, the gun won't stay in it. I carry either in my pocket (usually in dress pants if i'm carrying one this small) or OWB fobus paddle hoster (pretty small and can't tell it's under a t shirt or untucked polo)

I'd like to know as well. I saw these the other day and they looked interesting.

Solid advice.^^^^

I carry a Kel-Tec P3AT (nearly exact same dimensions as the Ruger LCP) in a front pocket holster when clothing prevents me from carrying a 9mm or 45 ACP. I don't see a reason to carry a 380 on a belt. If you're going to carry IWB, you might as well get a slightly bigger gun that's chambered in 9mm. To me, the 380 is meant for pocket carry when one can't carry something bigger. The synthetics mentioned above are very functional, but if you want something nicer, I can recommend Bear Creek Holsters. I was satisfied w/ the turnaround, quality and price of the holster they made for my Kel-Tec PF9.

If you get a pocket holster, by ALL means, get one that PROTECTS the trigger and the muzzle. Pocket carry is convenient, but it's potentially unsafe if the trigger and muzzle are not protected. You don't want lint and other foreign bodies getting in your gun, especially the muzzle or trigger. In addition, don't carry anything else in the pocket other than your holster gun.

I would never carry with this holster because the trigger is exposed. It's a recipe for disaster.

The desantis nemesis is great though. My dad carries his 380 in it and loves it.

How is this a recipe for disaster when it's the only thing in your pocket and with such a long trigger pull?

Because every single quality holster on market covers the trigger. Even one of the commandments of gun safety pertains directly to the most important part of a firearm. You should always respect the trigger.

Feel free to carry in your own preferred manner but don't be surprised if Murphy drops one of his laws on you. I see a lot of other downsides to that holster besides just the exposed trigger.

I don't even see the benefit of such a contraption - it helps with printing - just a teency weency bit.

Certainly - manual safety or not with these pocket .380s - covering the trigger is the whole raison d'etre for pocket holsters.

And, really, between Desantis, Galco, and maybe some of the choices from Uncle Mike - anyone can have a quality pocket holster at an extremely reasonable price for these guns.

I don't use a holster with mine. I bought the clip draw meant for the Kel Tec of the same size and installed it on the LCP. All of my pockets are different. Jeans it would be too tight. Dress pants pockets are usually too deep. Khakis and shorts are the same, but a tad tighter than the dress pants. Whenever I carry the LCP it is at 2:00 with the clip under my belt. It allows the back of the slide and the grip to sit down below the waistline of the pants and I can draw it much more quickly than from a pocket.
