I'll be working and living in a coastal Oregon town over the summer for two to three months at most. The people I'm working for have said to leave my vehicle at home because of the wear coastal living takes on vehicles, rust specifically. I do have a newer 2013 suv that I'd like to keep in good shape, but I also would really prefer to have the freedom of my own vehicle and not have to rely on others.

So I'm wondering if three months living right off the coast is long enough to do any real damage? I wouldn't think so, but thought I'd check. Sorry if this isn't really the best board for this.

I wouldn't think 3 months would do that much damage.

3 months won't make a difference. Rust won't be an issue for a 2013 vehicle unless you have bare metal.

If you are worried put some diesel and motor oil in a sprayer and spray the frame and undercarriage once a week

Excellent, yeah I didn't think such a short period of time could do much damage, especially on a newer vehicle. Appreciate the responses.

Get a solid coat of wax on it and the windows and see if you can find an undercarriage wash to hit up every couple of weeks

3 months isn't bad.

We call vehicles who have been here for years as having Juneau bodies. Toyotas and Hondas seem to rust out more quickly than others.
