“…(the) CMP will be receiving the rifles once the Phillipines prepares them for shipment. CMP reimburses the Army transportation costs of getting these rifles back as they have with every other shipment sent to us. We do not know when these rifles will be shipped back, but they have been approved…” Johnson said in a post to that group.
These rifles were provided to the Philippines government through the Military Assistance Program, or a similar program, as military aid. This type of program essentially replaced the WWII-era “Lend Lease” program and supplied arms and aid to U.S. allies across the world. Since these rifles were loaned, not purchased outright, they are eligible for return to the U.S. Army and then the CMP.

I was hoping CMP was a company, looks like an organization.
I was like CMP? Cheapest Munition Products .com?

IIRC, you have to be a member of a shooting range in order to be able to order one of these through CMP. Please correct if wrong.

You do, along with a few other requirements

They have been selling M1 garands for years. I still kick myself for not buying a carbine when they had them.

CCW permits are eligible.

They are only eligible as proof of being safe.

The garand is one of my favorites guns that I've ever shot

Feel bad for the baws that don't own one. Also feel bad for the baws that own one and don't have the proper AP ammo to feed it on occasion either...

Probably going to be one of the last big shipments of Garands back to the US. I've read that part of the problem with the Korean Garands is that some were actually sold to Korea, and some were lent, but that the Koreans want to keep them all.

Maybe Trump will open up the blockade.

There isn't much if any surplus .30-06 to be found anymore. There is probably still some in Europe and Asia, but Klinton prohibited its re-importation.

We're going to have to wait until the CMP gets them before that question can be answered. Condition, shipping costs, and how much repair and re-work they need will determine the price.
