Cleaning Ducks

Who else out there plucks all of their ducks. Went to brothers camp, they thought I was crazy when the feathers started flying. The few times that I breasted ducks, I felt a sense of guilt.

I pluck most ducks. Filet breast out of geese 75% of time and pluck rest of time.

I prefer to use the wax method.

I won't pluck all specks. If I filet the breast out though I will also remove the legs for gumbos

i pluck mine with a "plucker" i built. even the divers, that way i've got options on cooking them later.
also, all mack jr thinks its cool to blast feathers at his cousins when we come back after a hunt

I pluck about half and breast out the rest. Some of my preferred recipes just call for the duck breast meat so there's no need to pluck. I don't feel guilty about breasting them at all

Will usually pluck a Woodrow and a Teal, and sometimes a Speck depending on how many Snows got shot if it was a goose hunt. The rest are breasted.

+1
I built a plucker that was easy to build, works great, and sucks the feathers down into a holding area to be emptied later. (Couple times a year) It does require having a few essential items that I had laying around that many folks won't. But for the time it takes me to pluck a couple dozen ducks, it's worth it if you have to buy the stuff.

I usually pluck the breast and evaluate. If it is really torn up underneath, I breast it out so that I can clean up the breast better. If the breasts are clean, I will pluck the whole bird.

I usually give mine to the black folks that hang out at the gas station.

Build Details?
I breast and take the legs on almost all ducks. On rare occasion I will pluck wood ducks or puddlers if the breast is not all shot up. The wife does not like cooking them whole very often so I have thrown away plucked birds that went bad in freezer.

teal/wood ducks pluck
rest get breasted
ETA: unless I have enough to justify dropping them off at the cleaning lady, they pluck everything
