Turn on grill full blast, let it roll for 5 mins, hit with wire brush, cook

zep citrus cleaner and newspaper
Scrape gunk with putty knife
Follow with a bleach wash to kill mold
Then fire it up and let it burn for 15-20 minutes
NO mold you say? let it sit for a few days and watch
turning on heat just melts the gunk but leaves the mold

Lay tinfoil over grates. Turn on full blast and it will bake all the junk off then hit with a wire brush

For the outside of the grill the Zep cleaner works great. You can usually find it at Lowes. Spray it on and let it sit about 5 min it will dissolve grease.

I generally don't do too much cleaning until I am ready to cook...at that point, I heat the shite out of it and scrape off what does not incinerate...
