I have a trip to the islands coming up in May and never been there. We'll be staying on a mother ship and fishing from skiffs. Originally from Houma so well versed in saltwater fishing its just been a long time since I've been. Anyone know anything on the mother ship Summer Breeze? Also any opinions on where to fish, baits etc...? I appreciate any help from the masters of the OB.

I've been a few times on Jokers Wild. You fish where the mother ship tells you to fish. You will be mored in one of the interior bays. You should have access to the beach side which is where you should fish if weather allows. There are many grass beds in the bay side that should produce . The bad thing is our skiffs had no trolling motors hopefully yours do. If not bring a small Cajun anchor with rope, it will win you most of the onboard contests if wind forces you to fish in bays. Good luck on the winds, it really dictates the enjoyment of the trip. I never went before late july to maximize good forecast chances.

Fish top water in the early mornings/afternoon. You should be able to sight fish and that top water should provide some memorable moments.

Try everything else for the rest of the day.
There should be good redfishing, trout, and cobia.

After fishing all day my crew was more interested in pouring and puffing after the steaks and shrimps and such. Also the boats are not allowed to be operated at night and are put up on the mother at night.
