I've heard good things about TNT Concealed Carry if you don't mind driving out to Robert

If you want to drive to Scott, about 1 hr from Baton Rouge, check out High Brass Firearms.

I took the class in March and it was good. The class is done at Acadiana Gunworks right off I-10 Scott exit at Flemings place (guy from Sons of Guns).

Send me an email. If you have a large group and some land to shoot on, I can come host a class for you.

Fellow OB member. Great instructor.

Dang. Now I have to give bootlegger a Wilson Custom 1911 because he said something nice about my class. These bribes are getting expensive.

To the OP -- the size of your group is immaterial. I use my office (air conditioned) for the classroom session, and use an indoor (air conditioned) range for the shooting portion.
The only caveats are (a) everyone needs to already know how to load weapon, unload weapon, manipulate safeties/decockers and make bullets exit the muzzle and hit large targets at distances up to 5 yards and (b) bring, or borrow from me, a service caliber weapon (.38 Special, 9mm etc.).

We do not teach people "How To Shoot" in my class. We teach them "How to Avoid Being Selected as a Victim", along with La. Laws that govern when you can and cannot shoot. We teach them Where to shoot an attacker to achieve a quick stop. We also teach "What to Say to the Cops" when they roll up. The full list of topics can be found at LINK

I told Mrs bootlegger to call you last week to see if maybe your next class schedule would work with her crazy schedule. We shall see. She needs to get her class done.

I've shot for a little while and taking the concealed carry class this weekend with my 71 year old dad who is a Vietnam Vet. Looking forward to the class with pops but I would definitely be interested in learning a lot more than what I'll learn there. Thanks for the info and link. Looking forward to supporting a fellow member in the near future and get some good education

I doubt that your dad will have an interest in taking a 2nd CCW class. But if he does want to take mine, tell him his class will be free.

(Just don't mention it to anyone on this forum.)

This is where my wife and I took our class. Good guy.
He also has a notary come to his house to notarize all the documents for you.

1. Online applications are by far the fastest way to go.

2. I figured by now that all the instructors would be aware that notary seal isn't required if you file online.

Maybe one of these days ..............

Although, in fairness to the soccer moms, I guess there's a need for the "Basic Pistol" class. But I sorta think there might be some competency issues. I suspect most folks leave those classes (heck, probably any CCW class) thinking they're ready to "take on the world."

I think it was John Mauldin who said, "Confidence is good; overconfidence will get you killed." In my class we spend quite a bit of time discussing "real world" competency with a handgun - and the liability issues that may accompany incompetence.

bump

Anyone know of an instructor closer to Covington?

What else is needed for filing online? Do you upload a picture? Fingerprints, is that all electronic now? When i did it, had to go to get fingerprinted on card and all.
