Okay I know these are CSB's but I had a couple things happen to me this weekend that I've never done and wanted to hear some similar stories.

Me and my buddies were staying down on dauphin island this weekend, I was tossing my cast net for pogies and caught a 24" red with a mess of pogies. I've caught a couple smaller reds and trout but nothing that big in my net.

Then later that night we were out on Dixey Bar. All our rods went off not long after we arrived. One of my buddies hook found its way into a wire leader that was already hooked into a big bull red. shite was crazy. then we went back to the house and drank a lot of bourbon the end.

I caught a 16" red pulling islanders from a 40' Bertram in a duck pond. Bastard hit the port outrigger. Luckily he didn't spool us.

Caught several fish with other hooks in their mouths before. Actually didn't bring enough circle hooks on an AJ trip one time and were down to three rods after breaking off a bunch of times. Caught an AJ with a relatively new circle hook in it's mouth and rigged up the fourth rod

Also been in a duck pond with a cork moving around the pond. Obvious a fish was attached. Buddy hung off the front the boat and snagged the cork after several attempts. Interesting way to get one of our reds that day.

Caught a few reds in what I thought were completely freshwater canals on soft plastic while bass fishing. When I set the hook that first time I knew I didn't have a bass.

We were fishing the short rigs not far out of the ship channel in Big Lake when I was a kid once. My dad hung into something big and got broken off when it got into the legs of the rig.

About an hour later I was reeling up from the bottom and something smoked my bait about 10 feet from the surface. Tighten down on him and got him out. Big triple tail about 6 or 7 pounds with a matching, same size, no tarnish kahle hook stuck in its mouth on the other side. Had to have been what my dad broke off earlier...

I broke off a leader Carolina rig fishing only to have my boat partner catch that same fish within 5 casts. Leader hanging out it's mouth and my lizard still in fish's mouth.

My almost-first yellowfin was actually caught by taillash. The fish took chunk pretty shallow while two other rods were out, and redneck started to crank one up. Me not really knowing what I'm doing, he spits the hook pretty quick. Everyone is kinda pissed for a second until the rod neck is hauling up bends over. He brings the fish up and his circle hook had wrapped the tail and cinched down on the line.

We usually set up right off the point at fort Morgan. We all put out Carolina rigs with 4-6 oz sinkers (depending on the current), with either cut mullet or live croaker. When a school moves through every rod will hook up.....not sure why I call it that.

Bull reds. Starting in September they move around ft Morgan and the beaches in big schools. You can catch a couple here and there during the summer but the big schools are offshore I think.

Downriggers with giant Halco's are key during this transition month for monster redfish. Make sure you tip each Giant Halco's treble hooks with fresh shrimp for the best bite. Troll around 7 mph.

We are in October and the tactic you are describing is only for June. I think he is asking about tactics during October not June which if the case you would be incorrect but if it is June then you are correct. Need some clarity on this.

Was bass fishing Venice with a weightless white senko in a shallow canal. Set the hook on what I thought was a bass (after missing a few, so this was an overly aggressive hook set). He must've barely had the tail because the Senko flew over the boat and landed in the canal on other side. As soon as it hit a bigass red took it and it was on.

Also had one snatch a rod out of my hand. Jumped in the water, swam to rod, swam back to boat, landed redfish. Redfish fell off cleaning table into water at Boudreauxs in Leeville.
