Caught a blue spotted bass today. Anyone else ever caught one?

Several had some blue coloration to them, this guy probably the most though. The coloration is not a sheen. Anyone have an idea why they would be colored like that?
Not at liberty to say where I caught it. But it was in a public waterway.
