Some friends and I have mentioned going on a canoe trip somewhere not too far, like in Arkansas somewhere. Haven't really started doing any research yet on where we want to go, but right now open to any suggestions on where to go or any advice in general.

Buffalo is great, but time of year really matters.

Kings River is also great.

My advice - float the white river near Mountain Home and fish for trout while drifting.

You will run right into the Buffalo near the White Buffalo resort.

If you are in LA, Black Creek in MS is very nice for the area and good for kids.

Lots of sandbars.

Black Creek canoe rental worked well for me a few times (last used in 2008) before I moved.

Yep. Great for canoeing.

I'd be careful in a canoe on the white. They crank the generators up in the afternoons and it rolls fast, cold and deep.

Life long friend of mine owns the property on the East bank looking at merge of the Buffalo and White on the West side. He owns from that point and South about 1/4 of a mile of river front.

Eta: I knew I had a pic of it, his property is on the right side in the background with the steep bank where you can see the top of a green house, the Buffalo enters the White River on the back side of that gravel bar right off my right (your left) shoulder.

we try to do at least one trip a year to little black creek and always use Black Creek Canoe Rentals. Very nice guy that owns/runs it and we've never had any problems

Part of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways is just a little north of the Arkansas line and worth driving a few extra miles.

If you do not want to camp then stay at The Landing on Current River in Van Buren. If you do want to camp then still call The Landing and they can hook you up with that too. They can also rent you canoes, sell you groceries, etc.

A group of us do little black creek every year. I've heard good things about the buffalo river.

Little black creek is pretty easy for a family or a bunch of guys who really just care to float. I'd imagine Arkansas would take a little more work. And two days of driving.

nice subtle brag there

BTW who is that stud in the background?

The Buffalo is the best for a float trip and its loaded with smallies.

Just saying. We know that exact spot well. We broke for lunch on the point between the Buffalo and White River that day not 20 minutes after that pic was taken.

Buffalo Outdoor Center

I highly recommend this outfit for all your needs.

I think everyone at some point should take a trip to the upper buffalo in there lifetime. The river is dependent of rainfall (especially the upper portion). Peak season is April to June.
