Recently in the last month I have heard several instances of people camping out in Biloxi marsh. I was only aware of the designated "campground" I the wma, if you can call it that. I am curious: where are people camping out there? Random shell banks? The bugs are terrible in Shell Beach/Hopedale...how bad are they out in the Biloxi Marsh northwest of there for camping?

I love camping, and i love fishing the biloxi marsh, but i don't think i would ever combine those 2.

That's always been my thought process as well, but having heard it mentioned several times recently has captured my interest. I've never really seen any dry ground out there besides oyster banks and one change in wind direction submerges most of those.

the banks of any manmade canal are pretty high & dry. i've also anchored the boat and slept on board. pretty sure they'll ticket you if they catch you camping outside the official camp site though, so be forewarned.

bugs are terrible if it's not cold outside too.

The camping area is a pretty good spot with a pier to tie up your boat. There are some high shell/beach banks on one side of the WMA but they are unprotected on one side.

There are a couple in depth threads on a few other sites that are pretty informative. It's pretty easy, just do your research and make sure the tide isn't going to run out on you or flood your camp.
